Network Event for Alpha Chapter, Alumni, Alpha Omega & Prospectives

Through the efforts of Bros. George "Pops" Hardy (4-77-A), JaSun Frone (5-94-A), and Jason Harris (7-2017-A), a networking event has been constructed to enhance and strengthen the relationship between Brothers of Alpha Chapter, Alpha Chapter Alumni, Alpha Omega, and prospective undergraduate members from Howard University interested in our Fraternity.

The event will take place on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 7 PM in the In3 Community Space located in Wonder Plaza, 2301-D Georgia Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. 20001 (right across the street from McDonalds).  This event will begin promptly at 7:00 pm and should last about 1.5 hours.  In3 stand for INCLUSIVE, INNOVATION, INCUBATOR. It is the District of Columbia’s first community space that is committed to creating a collaborative environment where under-resourced members have access to the space and services needed to build or grow a successful business.

The objectives of the event are as follows:

  • To show that men of Omega are successful in a broad field of careers as well as present an opportunity for individuals to find mentors.
  • To begin a dialog between our undergrads and alumni brothers that will create pathways to assist them in meeting their career goals.
  • Provide mentoring opportunities for Omega men to extend themselves to Howard University undergrads to assist them in achieving their career goals.

The benefits in attending this event are:

  • Enhancing the image of Alpha Chapter as being a viable resource on the campus of Howard University.
  • Developing and strengthening the relationship of current Alpha Chapter Brothers and Alpha Chapter alumni.
  • Strengthening the current relationship between Alpha and Alpha Omega Chapters.
  • Broadening and strengthening the image of Omega and Alpha Chapter to prospective members.
  • Serve as an example and format for the potential creation of a Fraternity-wide model of collaboration between current undergrads and their chapter alumni for mentoring and career development.
  • Contribute to In3’s image as a place where networking and collaboration takes place.

It is estimated that as many as 70 young men (HU undergraduates) will attend this event.  As a precursor to the event, included below is information on the current Brothers of Alpha Chapter.

All Alpha Chapter Alumni and Alpha Omega Brothers are encourage to review this list and align yourselves with an undergrad Brother that you will commit to mentor and assist.  This alignment should be career focused.  In other words, if you have been successful in the career of medicine, you should align yourself with an undergrad that has the same aspirations.  The goal is that before this event, each current Alpha Chapter brother will have an assigned mentor and perhaps this event will be their first encounter.  All brothers should be prepared to select an undergrad (either an Alpha Chapter member or an undergrad who is not a member of our fraternity) to partner with and provide mentoring.  Based on the anticipated numbers, there should be numerous opportunities for us to extend ourselves to these young men.

Below is the Alpha Chapter roster and brief info on the Brother.  Please review the list below, make your selection of who you will mentor, and then plan to be in attendance at this groundbreaking event.
