  • Andrew Rankin Chapel, 6th & Howard Place, NW, Howard University, Washington, D.C. 20059

In the tradition of 1929 and 1980, the Presentation Ceremony for the restored Banneker Memorial Sundial and new hardscape will take place on Friday, September 22, 2017, 6 PM at Rankin Chapel and the Dial site on the campus of Howard University.  The program will harken back to the original Dial Presentation Exercises held at Rankin on February 1, 1929, by Alpha Chapter.  A Committee led by Bro. Conrad Woody (4-04-A) is constructing a 45-minute program that will incorporate song, reflection, and acknowledgments in celebration of the restored oldest edifice among all Black Greek-letter organizations on any campus.

Dr. Wayne Frederick, Howard University President, our Grand Basileus, Bro. Antonio Knox, Sr., Supreme Council members, Howard University officials, and other dignitaries will be in attendance.  Additionally, JoAnn Clay, daughter of the Dial conceiver, Bro. Leroy Clay (Alpha 1929), will attend as an honored guest.

If you made a donation to the Dial Restoration Initiative and you did not elect to have your donation swag shipped to you, it will be available for pick up immediately following the event.

This event is open to the public.  This is a once-in-a-generation event.  Please mark on your calendar and plan on attending.
